Learing Outcome

After the completion of M .A/M .Sc courses in Geography as per Curriculum of Barrackpore  Rastraguru Surendranath college, students can have the following outcome;

  • Understand, analyse, critically interpret the landform and landscape evolution through different processes, models, theories
  • Understand and comprehend the multi -dimensions of the core subject and its thrust areas in order to assess the unified whole.
  • Understand and explore the knowledge about the resource creation, utilization and environmental quality
  • Able to logically interpret the man-environment relationship at different scale and in spatial context.
  • Able to analyze space, its modification and manifestation in the formation of society, spatial structure, spatial interaction, spatial association and diffusion and different attributes of cultural traits.
  • Acquire the advance level of knowledge in atmospheric processes, dynamics and correlate with contemporary climatic issues
  • Achieve the logic behind the environmental conservation through the intense knowledge of physical attributes and their correlations

  • Can prepare, analyze and interpret different kind of map with spatial information at different scale with geospatial technique and cartographic procedure

  • Acquired advance technique of integrating and  analyzing geospatial data in GIS platform using software
  • Acquire the techniques of identification and interpretation of remote sensing data
  • Acquire advance knowledge of statistical analysis and its application in the disciplines

Competency in applied field

  • Able to correlate the contemporary problems(both physical and social) with subjective outlook both at regional and local level
  • Able to exhibit collective and collaborative skills with subjective judgement.
  • Logically interpret the contemporary problems as at least one case study through field visits, collection and management of data base, analyze with  critical thinking and preparation of field report through cartographic technique and statistical application and specific software.

  • Identify the methodology needed to enquire particular issue both in quantitative and qualitative approach using geospatial techniques.
